007: In Too Deep
As it turns out, I’m a pretty decent fan of James Bond. Since coming to Japan though, I haven’t really watched movies at all. Just wasn’t interested in going to the theater alone, and didn’t have a TV or even computer decent enough to enjoy watching discs on. But as I’ve settled down here, I’ve discovered the joy of real, honest-to-god video rental stores, a “living fossil” as far as the US is concerned. With the impending release of Spectre in late 2015, I realized something. I had never actually seen all the 007 movies, nor had I ever watched them in any coherent order. So to prime myself for a new movie boasting the return of long-missed classic elements of the series, I embarked on a rental odyssey to see all the flicks in original release order.
I quickly discovered I had quite a lot to talk about that mere social media posts or summary reviews couldn’t cover. Minute details, individual scenes, overarching themes and concepts, jokes, amateur analysis, social commentary (god forbid). The only way to go was scene by scene.
No use stopping me now, I’m already…In Too Deep.
This post will also be a separate page from which all my reviews will be accessible as I post them.
